Weekend Events

We're still here :)  Doing great!  The pool is finally closed and things are looking up!  I have thoroughly enjoyed more free time to hang out with Brian and Burke!  This past weekend was a little busy for us and next weekend will definitely be busier (Ash and Chad are getting married!!)!

This past weekend I had to travel to Charlottesville for a VDA board meeting.  I somehow volunteered myself to be President-Elect of the Southwest VA Dietetic Association (yes that means next year its all me!), so that also means, I was in C'ville to serve on the state board.  Anyway, it was a long day.  I had to be there by 9am, so I had to get up and be out of the house by 6:15 to get there on time and figure out where I was going!  I got home around 5pm on Saturday.  It was a pretty uneventful trip.  The only parts that stunk about it were: 1) the meeting was during the VT football game, so Ash was sending text updates, but just not the same AND the reception on the way home was horrible so I only got bits and pieces on the radio and 2) I had to drive 4.5 hours by myself!  But the Hokies did win on Saturday so that was AWESOME!  Saturday morning Burke went to hang with Ashley and her mom (Lori aka Larry) and did some wedding stuff, so Brian had the morning off.  Brian was super excited when Ashley brought Burke home at 12ish already fed AND ready for a nap.  Thanks Ashley!!  When I got back on Saturday, we went shopping for some last minute wedding clothes for Brian and then enjoyed dinner out.  I ended the day with some wedding crafts with Ash and her mom, while Brian and Burke had bath and bedtime.

Sunday, Burke was a sick little man.  I'm not 100% sure what was wrong, other than the fact that he had a fever and threw up twice.  He would go from happy to miserable very quickly.  We spent most of the day at home relaxing.  I was worried about how Sunday night would go, but he woke up after a 12 hour sleep, like a whole new kid!

This is Burke on Monday morning.  He was feeling much better and these days, love climbing into his old baby seat?  It's quite funny to watch him climb in a play with the toys...

Yesterday was a true test of parenting for Brian and I (i know it won't be the last time!).  I'm not sure if it was a hangover from Sunday, teething or just Burke, but he was definitely a pain! :)  He threw more temper tantrums yesterday than I thought any child could possibly throw!  I guess he is spoiled? But it is slightly frustrating!  I thought it was supposed to be the terrible twos? Instead we get the horrible 15months? :)  Today has been much better, but he's definitely spoiled rotten.  I love my baby though!

Trying...

I'm trying so hard to stay up on this!

Today we had a really good day.  Burke and I have Mom's Morning Out (KidZone) on Wednesday-Friday mornings (well I have it Tuesday too, but he's in daycare on Tuesdays), so we went this morning.  It's funny to see how well he plays with the other kids.  There is a little girl Claire who is about 3 months older than him, but they seem to enjoy playing together!  Although today they were caught kissing/hugging in the corner.. GREAT... He also has a huge problem with pulling hair.  I don't really know how to make him stop other than saying no and looking sad?  We'll have to keep working on it.. I think he has hair envy!  There is also a little boy Luke who LOVES playing with Burke.  He's about 2.5 years old and walks around with him, hugging Burke, etc.  It's super cute!  Needless to say he enjoys KidZone.

After KZ we came home and he took a 3.5 hour nap and I had to wake him up.  NO LIE!  He went to bed totally normal, so let's hope he sleeps tonight!  He had a HORRIBLE night last night, so I'm hoping the nap is a result of that and not that his days and nights are mixed up again :)

When Brian got home from work we went out shopping.  It was nice to walk around outside with nice weather!  I need some shoes for Ashley's upcoming wedding so we were on a mission.  We couldn't find any good shoes, but we did enjoy a trip to the  bookstore for Burke to play trains.  Brian also found a little car in the shoe store for Burke to ride in.. He was in heaven and freaked when it was time to go!  After our errands, we went out for dinner since we had a gift card to spend and even enjoyed dessert out!

All in all it was a great day!  Hope you have a great weekend!

Catching up..

I'm finally catching up on a  million projects!  I actually downloaded pictures today for the first time in ? I don't even know.. I guess we have birthday pictures up.. Two months?

Brian got his wisdom teeth out today.  He is doing well and since I had to be home with him all day (and Burke was at daycare) I got an incredible amount of things done! Carpets are finally clean (yay!  cleaner and vacuumed!), floors mopped, kitchen cleaned, Burke's room cleaned, our room cleaned AND uploaded pictures and organized ebay junk.. NICE!  And I also finished my crayon project for Ashley's wedding! :)  Can you tell I'm excited?

Burke is still doing great.  He still loves going to daycare and playing with all his buddies.  After 5 days of no daycare, he actually squeals in delight when we pull in.  Although I love spending time with him, I do love that he enjoys daycare!

I'm going to go ahead and catch up with all my pics over the past few months, since I know some of you are dying to see them :)

Ashley made Burke this very cool sign for his door (I need to post a picture), so we decided Burke should paint a picture for Ashley.  We did 3 layers.. he rolled around, fingerpainted, etc.. Then when that dried he walked on it, then did handprints.  The idea was good.. Finished product... well he's only 14 months old! :)

Ashley seemed to love it.. I told her she really didn't have to put it up.. We actually had Burke do two of them so we could have one too :)  The plan will be to have each of our kids do one around their first bday..

Burke loves cookies! (but hates ice cream?!?) and was caught red handed with a box of cookies and watching TV!

Sunday's are dinner night with Kaitlin.  Kaitlin is at Radford now and we are SO EXCITED!  We make her do dinner once a month with us (although she said she would go for free food anytime).. This month we met at Red Robin.  She seems to really be enjoying college and I'm so glad!  She has some great friends (and a boyfriend already?!?) :) And for the record, she said she isn't transfering to VT like originally planned.. I'm very saddened by this ;)

Burke enjoyed his dinner with Kaitlin!

Burke is demonstrating his "new" trick.. Blowing kisses.. he's actually been doing it for about a month.. But its super cute :) and he even does the smooch sound...

Just goofing around.. Burke has mastered the art of being a huge ham when you bring out the camera!

ENJOY!!  Be back soon!
