Busy Times

Will life ever slow down?  Brian and I are both working like mad men these days! He's working days and nights and I'm working days and the other nights.. so basically we are too busy!  Burke is doing great though!  This weekend he spent A LOT of time with daddy!  Saturday night we had a great evening with friends at PK's.  Its a great place for food and drink in Blacksburg!  It was a birthday party for all the guys turning 30 this year.. We had about 30 or 40 people there and it was great times!  I'm so glad I went out!  Burke lasted until about 8:30 before we had to head home.  Brian stayed out with the guys which was great for him!  He needed a night out!  Sunday morning, Brian let me sleep in! WOHOO! Although it didn't really work, since I heard them :)  Anyway, we went to get brunch at Lefty's which he have never been to.. I'm in love!  I may never go back to cracker barrel?!  Then we did a quick grocery trip and then home to unload and head to work.  Brian and Burke had a good day, while I worked, then babysat from 1p to midnight.  It was quite a long day!  Today Burke and I had Spring Break Staycation with the kids at the club.  It was great times!  It's a week long camp, where we "travel" to a different place each day.  Today was Lake Tahoe for skiing and Burke dressed the part!

I really need to step it up on the posts!! I know I've been bad, but honestly we've been so busy, every night I want nothing more than a warm cozy bed and sleep! Last week we went out to dinner with Matt and Susan for Abbey's birthday.. I wanted to add a picture from dinner, since I neglected adding them!!  We had a great dinner and Natalie and Burke will be married one day :)... and really, as long as they are friends, we'll be happy :)

Saturday we actually got to spend a day together!  It was so nice.. It was a beautiful spring day.. so we spent it shopping!  Old Navy and Gap were having a good sale plus I had a 30% friends and family coupon, so we were able to get Burke A LOT of clothes for very little.. and Brian and I might have picked up a few things too!  We bought him lots of shorts for our upcoming trip and some new jeans (b/c I LOVE when he wears jeans!) and they were all 6-12 months.. and of course NONE of them fit!!  So I headed back to buy 3-6 jeans and a pair of shorts.. I didn't take anything back, he just now has double the amount of clothes :)  Hopefully it will last us all summer. I then spent the evening babysitting the Hills.. a great family of 3 little girls.. I can't imagine what my parents went through with 3 little girls (and then Kaitlin)!

Sunday I skipped church again.. ugg... we have got to get back into the routine!  We went out for lunch, then I headed into work for interviews all day.  We are gearing up for summer and hiring new lifeguards. Brian and Burke spent the day at home.. They did go for a walk and enjoyed the weather..

Monday, we worked all day then I took Burke by the HNFE office.  I had a meeting on campus for RD continuing education credits and he hasn't made an appearance in the HNFE office, where I spent 7 years of my life (4 undergrad, 2 grad, 1 internship).. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the ladies in the office and it was great to show Burke off!  HNFE was such a big part of my life.. I LOVE VT!  I then took Burke over to the meeting to meet some of my fellow RDs.. That night we made our way to the basketball game.  Once again, THANKS to the Odoms!!  It was a great game and the Hokies won!  and Burke was SO good.. even if it was late!
Cheeser!

Tuesday and Wednesday were long working days!  Burke and Brian had good quality bonding time!

What a week it's been!  Looking forward to a quiet Saturday!

TEETH!?

or should I say tooth?? Last weekend my Mom convinced me Burke had a tooth coming in.. Well she called it!!  as of this morning he officially has a tooth!  I am a little sad by this.. he's getting too big!  Since I've never had a baby before.. I'll give the progression on teething (well for my baby anyway)... It started out by drooling and LOTS of it (not really sure if that is a change though).. and then the bubble.. kind of a little bump/blister on his gum (this is what mom felt).. Now it has broken through.. you can't really see anything unless you look really close, but it looks like a kid who lost a tooth and has that indention?! well kind of.. anyway, you can definitely feel the tooth and see where it is.. but not pearly white yet!  exciting and sad all at once!

I know you hate reading without pics :) Hopefully we'll get some teeth pics soon :)

We had a really busy week and once again i can't really tell you what we did?? Monday, we worked all day..

Tuesday, we worked then headed to Roanoke with Megan and the boys.. We went to Chuckee Cheese AGAIN (i love that place), dropped some stuff off for the soccer team (Travis, meg's hubby, is the high school coach), went to a really bad consignment sale, then had a blast at Sam's Club.  We bought stuff for the club and found the COOLEST double water slide blow up!  And yes we convinced our boss (meg's the accountant) to let us buy it! then it was back to work for family night..

Wednesday was St Pattys Day, we ran errands, went out to lunch with Brian, walked with Ash (weather is SOOO NICE!) and then Burke and I went to Cabo Fish Taco for dinner and the Hokie Basketball game with the Odoms!!  We SHOULD be in the NCAA tournament, but didn't geta bid, so instead we are playing in the NIT (on the bright side we get to go to the games and have great seats :) )..

Thursday, more work, walked with Ash (two days in a row! boy am i sore!), did a little shopping (old navy was having a sale), and then met Susan, Abbey, Matt and Natalie for dinner!  It was Abbey's 3rd birthday, so we celebrated!!  Brian is back to working nights for his study which totally stinks, but it won't be for long!

Today, we worked, babysat, babysat again and worked some more.. LONG day :)

I am trying really hard to get back in some sort of shape.. and walking is perfect with the weather.. Plus Burke loves being in the stroller.. I am working on getting him in it more to prepare him for the Disney trip!  So far he seems hang out and  to sleep well in it :)

We're looking forward to a great weekend!  Tomorrow is supposed to be really nice and we are all home! YAY!

SLACKER!

I'm such a slacker!  Well we've had quite a busy week and I've been lazy and going to bed early every night!  Last week went fine.. just work, play, etc.. But Friday we headed to Richmond for a quick trip.  There was a surprise going away party for my cousin who's going into the Army and a retirement party for my Uncle.. We left Blacksburg late afternoon on Friday... made it to Richmond in time to run to Target for a highchair (Burke's the first grandbaby, so my parents needed one!) and a quick dinner, before it was time for Burke to get some sleep.  My mom and I spent the evening doing some arts and crafts for the big Disney trip.. I so desperately want some cool shirts for Burke to wear and I think mom accomplished it!  I'll show pics of them when we get some (maybe on the trip)!  We woke up early Saturday morning to run some errands, go out to lunch then head to the party!   We went to babiesrus where we scored some great deals on baby food and bibs!  We then headed to O'Charleys, were we had a great lunch with mom, dad and my sis Kaitlin.

Our lunch at O'Charleys - Burke trying to share :)

We then made our way to Midlothian for the big surprise party!  We got there late, but since both party men knew the party was a surprise (way to blow it Patty!), we didn't miss much!  My cousin Chris is heading to basic training in a week and my Uncle just retired from 35 years at Philip Morris.  It was great to see them!

Burke and My Cousin Chris - Army Man! Good Luck!

I will say the best part of the night was probably when Katie (my other cousin) got engaged.  Her boyfriend proposed in front of EVERYONE!  I've never seen anything like it, so it was great!  Needless to say, there was lots to celebrate and I am so glad we made it!

Katie and Simon the happy couple!

We got home kind of late and put Burke to bed so my mom and I did some more crafting!!  It was so fun!

Daylight savings killed me since we had to get up super early for our trip back.  I had to work on Sunday so we had to get back early.  We were out the door and on the road at 7:30am (6:30 old time).. WOW what a trip!  It was good to see everyone, but 36 hours is NOT enough time! :)

Monday night we went out to dinner where Burke showed us he has finally mastered the art of the sippy cup!

Have a good week!

8 MONTHS OLD!!! and HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!!

Today is my dad's birthday, so I first want to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the best dad ever!  Sorry we couldn't afford that sports car you wanted.. but hopefully you enjoyed yard work today in the nice weather!

Burke is 8 months old!  It's crazy..  I know I say it every month, but it blows my mind how fast the time goes... everytime I hold a newborn, I'm a little sad.. but then so excited for the adventures to come (especially the first disney trip!)!!

Our baby is 8 months old today! Hard to believe!

- He's weighing in at 14 lbs 8 oz !
- Is wearing size 2 diapers and still 3-6 months clothes, a few 6-12 months things (especially footed pjs!)
- LOVES all food!
- Eats three solid meals a day and a biter biscuit when Brian and I eat (family dinner!)
- Is sitting all by himself and reaches pretty far (almost getting up on all 4s) for his toys
- Is so happy most of the time!
- Has started scooting on his butt to get to things.. but not necessarily on purpose, and almost gets up on all 4s!
- Takes a good hour nap in the morning and 2 hour nap in the afternoon..
- Sleeps for 6-8 hours at night.. still struggling with this!
- Knows his own name
- Loves playing with his daddy!

I just loved this face :)

8 months old!

I have to point out that Burke is 8 months old today! I can't believe it!  I held an 8 lb newborn baby tonight and it made me so sad to see how fast they grow!  I'll give the monthly update tomorrow with our 8 month pictures!

4AM post...

I am very sad to be writing this post right now, since it's 4AM... oh I long to be asleep!  I'm on Brian's computer, so no pictures tonight.. Well, we have been fighting a cold again and it's messed up any progress with Burke's sleeping habits.. but tonight at 2 am, when I went in and he just wanted to be rocked, I decided I had to cut the cord!  I love my baby and totally know one day I will miss the 2AM snuggle time, but I know as he gets old and older it's only going to get worse and worse and he's GOT to learn to sleep on his own!  We had done so well, then the holidays hit.. Now you all know why we will no longer be traveling for the Holidays!  I can't tell you the last night I've slept through the night. Well, as I write this, I think the little guy is FINALLY asleep (2 hours later!), thanks to Scout the singing dog (THANK YOU ASHLEY - BEST GIFT EVER!)..  more tomorrow.. must sleep while can!

DISNEY LIVE! CHUCKIE CHEESE! Any kids dream!

The title says it all!  Burke and I made our way to Roanoke this weekend with Megan, Wyatt and Ethan for some good fun!  Megan had gotten tickets for Disney Live and had an extra so invited us along (Brian was not very interested :) )!  Since we both have a love for Disney, it was a great time!  THANKS MEGAN!

We started out the day looking for furniture at Grands Big Sale.. Unfortunately, we found lots of people, but not lots of good furniture! Megan's boys had no idea what was planned for the day and that was half the fun!  We made our way to Chuckie Cheese (where a kid can be a kid!).  Burke and I enjoyed watching the boys run around playing games with about 200 of their closest friends :)  It was a VERY busy morning!  But we all had a good time and all three boys seemed to enjoy themselves!

As you can see, Burke has already learned the importance of the tickets!

We then made our way to Roanoke Performing Arts Building for Disney Live!  I was so pathetically excited.  This was my first Disney show away from Disney World and I am so sold!  From the time we walked through the door and saw all the overpriced Disney merchandise, I wanted to be on Main Street USA.  I secretly wanted to buy Burke lots of toys, but didn't even look :)  I just sat there so excited for Burke to get older and be able to jump around and dance with the other kids.  It's so magical!  Disney definitely knows what they are doing! It helped that Burke was sooooo good!  They had a preshow party which got everyone excited, including my almost 8 month old!  He was smiling and throwing his arms around!  The show was fun with lots of lights and music.. About half way through the first act, he snuggled up and fell asleep.. No fussing, nothing!

At the intermission he woke up and enjoyed the show with the rest of us.  I can say I am now VERY excited to take him to Disney World in May.  I was feeling a little worried the past couple weeks, with the thought of the plane ride, packing, etc. but now I am so excited!  It was a great DAY!

Such a good boy!

The grand finale!

After the show, we headed back to Blacksburg for the Hokie Men's Basketball Game.  Brian and I kept Wyatt and Ethan, so Megan could surprise Travis for his bday.  We took them to a "carnival" on campus.  We all had a blast!  They had tons of moonbounces and activities for kids.  It was a great event!  AND it was free!  The only thing that would have made it better is if we had more time there!  We got there with only 20 minutes to play before it ended, but Brian and I both agreed next year we will be back with Burke and he'll be old enough to enjoy it!  We then took everyone to Red Robin for dinner.  The game ended up being delayed due to a water main break on campus, so I sent Brian home with Burke for bed and hung with Wyatt and Ethan til the game was over (the Hokies lost in double overtime :( ).

Sunday morning we got up bright and early and headed to Cracker Barrel to meet up with Susan, Matt, Abbey and Natalie.  We had a great breakfast, then made our way back home to hang out.  We enjoyed lots of movies and good company with the Olmsteads!

Breakfast with the Olmsteads...

Unfortunately Burke woke up this morning with a cold... I had to teach a CPR class at work today, so Brian stayed home with him.  I'm hoping he's teething and not getting sick!  Hope you guys have a great week!!
